When the afternoon sun hits the front of our house, it heats up fast. We tried a couple of simple changes that ended up making a noticeable difference.

The biggest improvement came from adding Coolaroo exterior solar shades. They help block the direct sun before it reaches the windows, which keeps that side of the house from heating up as quickly.

We also added a Midea portable air conditioner inside. Together, the shades and AC have made it much easier to keep the house comfortable on warmer days without constantly lowering the thermostat.

Nothing complicated — just a couple of practical upgrades that have worked well for us.

What Made the Difference

Exterior solar shades blocked much of the afternoon sun, while the portable AC helped handle the heat that still made it inside.
